It has been revealed Australia and the United States could further strengthen military ties amid the growing threat from China by engaging in a more diverse range of joint military missions more often. The largest bilateral exercise between Australia and the US is currently underway in Shoalwater Bay in Central Queensland where nearly 17,000 troops are being put through their paces. The Australian has reported the talks are taking place ahead of a meeting of military representatives from Australia and the US in Washington next month. Any change which takes place will undoubtedly be closely watched by Beijing as there are currently multiple Chinese spy ships off the Queensland coast watching the joint operations.
