Samantha Lakey, who travelled to Russia to receive treatment for multiple sclerosis, says she is at a loss amid her pleas with the Queensland government to receive an exemption to quarantine in her own home. Ms Lakey says the QLD government has given her two options for quarantine once she has returned to Australia, one of which is to quarantine in a hospital. “They want me to quarantine in a hospital and … that doesn’t sit well with me because a hospital has so many sick people, COVID-related and non-COVID-related,” she told Sky News host Cory Bernardi. She said this is an issue due to her illness which requires her to be “far away from anyone with illness, full stop”. “Can’t touch anything, can’t be in or amongst any buildings that’s been associated with illness.”
